Providenciales has an international airport (PLS) with daily flights to Providenciales on American Airlines and US Airways and weekly flights on Delta, Air Canada and British Airways. Also weekly charter flights from Boston, Detroit, New York, Montreal and Toronto. Inter-island services are provided by InterIsland Airways, Sky King, Global Airways and numerous local charter services.

The Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) are located in the centre of the Caribbean, 575 miles southeast of Miami (about 1 1/2 hours flying time), with the Bahamas 30 miles to the northwest and the Dominican Republic 100 miles to the southeast.

The archipelago country of the Turks & Caicos Islands consists of two island groups, The Caicos Islands and the Turks Islands, separated by the 22 mile wide Columbus Passage. The TCI totals 166 square miles of land area on eight islands and forty small cays. The Islands' population is approximately 25,000, with the majority of the people living on the island of Providenciales.

The economy of the Turks and Caicos Islands is based on tourism, offshore finance and fishing. Providenciales is most famous for its stunning white sand beaches and warm ocean waters protected by a barrier reef.
